Safety

Protecting our people has always been HEB’s utmost priority. Our safety culture is deeply rooted in the way we operate as we strive to safeguard our people, projects and reputation by making every effort to ensure zero employee injuries and illnesses, while delivering our work responsibly and sustainably.
Health and safety principles are applied when planning and executing projects, sharing best practices and lessons learned, and managing our continuous improvement cycle.
Our group of companies are certified with OHSAS 18001:2007 in 2014 and subsequently migrated to ISO 45001:2018 certification in 2019.

Our Philosophy

Health & Safety of our people remains top of mind in everything that we do. Through the voices of our leaders, we embrace these principles and ensure these are put into practice in our daily operation.

Commitment by Top Leadership

HEB’s Safety and Health Committee is chaired by our Chief Executive Officer of HSS Engineering Sdn Bhd which comprises employer representatives, employee representatives and a secretary. The Committee meets quarterly to communicate and discuss relevant safety matters.

Quarterly Health & Safety Audit

HEB conducts quarterly workplace health and safety inspections to identify potential hazards. We have designated persons of authority to identify hazards, implement proactive actions to prevent potential hazards and initiate an almost immediate response during emergencies. These safety inspections reassure employees that the workplace is safe and adhere to the required compliance procedures.

Safety Orientation and Training

Our employees are provided with effective safety training orientation in order to be aware of potential hazards in the workplace and to prevent injuries to themselves and others. As part of the Group’s Emergency Preparedness and Responses plan, we have a dedicated Integrated Management Systems and Administration Department which spearhead training programs for Emergency Response Team members and personnel. The training programs are put in place to enhance the team’s awareness levels on the procedures laid out in the Emergency Response Plan as well as hands-on training to ensure they are equipped to guide employees during times of emergency.
